Version, these are called the History of Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, and the Song of the Three Holy Children. On the other hand, the Book of Job is about one-sixth shorter in the Septuagint than in the Hebrew text, and the Book of Jeremiah (besides extensive transposition) lacks about one-eighth of the material present in the Hebrew text. In both cases, it may well be that the translators were working with a Hebrew text sharply different from that which later became the traditional Masoretic text.
